Half a million lights, giant balloons, and more than 100 illuminated floats will cover the 1.59-mile parade route and draw tens of thousands of people to downtown Fort Worth for the GM Financial Fort Worth Parade of Lights, Celebrating 100 Years of Cook Children’s.
Fort Worth’s signature event of the season will bring the holiday spirit to thousands of North Texans. Additionally, the 1.59-mile parade route will be lined with decorated horse-drawn carriages, antique cars, festive marching bands, strolling carolers, and a special finale appearance from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
The 2018 parade theme, “Through the Eyes of a Child,” pays tribute to Cook Children’s Centennial Celebration, commemorating 100 years of pediatric medical care services. The parade will cap a year-long celebration and will honor selected families and patients from Cook Children’s as this year’s Grand Marshals.
Starting at 5:30pm, Cowboy Santas will journey around the parade route to collect unwrapped toys to donate to children in need. At 6pm, the GM Financial Parade of Lights will officially start on Weatherford Street. The parade will proceed east along Weatherford Street and turn south on Commerce Street to 9th Street. At 9th Street, the parade will turn west and then turn north on Houston Street, concluding back on Weatherford Street.
While the parade is free to attend, participants can purchase reserved street seats online in advance, starting at $12.95.
