Magical Dessert Bar in Deep Ellum

This year has been all about unicorns! Unicorn cake, unicorn tutu’s, unicorn headbands and the list just goes on for all the little girls and my 24-year-old self. It also looks like Dallas just fell into the whole unicorn obsession too because Deep Ellum just opened up a small dessert shop of all things unicorn!

As soon as I heard about this new place I didn’t even wait a day to go check them out. I went and ordered all the Instagram worthy desserts lol. Lo and behold, it wasn’t just eye-catchy but laawwwddd it was so tasty!

My top 3 favorites on the menu are: The Pink Hot Chocolate, Unicorn Milk Shake and the Unicorn Lemonade.

Internet Cafe 2

All things pink, vintage and a unique style to all their drinks and treats is what this cafe has to offer in sweet ol’ Dallas, TX.

As soon as you walk in you’ll find a cute pink couch you’d definitely want to take pictures on (cause I sure did), cute floppy disk coasters, a rad a$$ 90’s desktop on the counter and well… I’ll let you check out the rest!

If you ever decide to visit them one day, make sure to try out their Sugar Rectangle’s (flaky pie crust with lemon blueberry inside) kind of like a toaster strudel/pop tart. They also have this, Byte Me’s shortbread cookies with house-made vanilla sprinkled frosting. And for you pizza lovers, they have pizzas too, how cool right? Pizza at a coffee shop? This is what we’ve all been waiting for hehehe.

Oh, and on the first Thursday of every month, Internet Cafe 2 host beat poetry night. Yaaaasss!

Check them out!

My Smoothie Recipe for Kids + Twistshake

This post was sponsored by Twistshake, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

To keep Noah healthy, I am all about giving him really beneficial healthy ingredients in a way that tastes like a treat that he will actually enjoy. So, a few times a week or on a really hot day, we make a power smoothie either for breakfast or afternoon snack (to switch it up)! To ensure that he is getting all the important nutrients he needs.

The thing about smoothies is, it’s of course thicker than any other liquid because I am actually getting real fruits and veggies and blending these ingredients myself. So, what I LOVE to use when I make these smoothies is the Twistshake Sippy Cups. It has this awesome cap that prevents clogging and it’s super easy to just take apart and clean. It is also BPA-, BPS- and BPF-free which I am all about! You can read more about it here.

Here’s a look at the breakdown of the components of the Twistshake

Changing the donut game in Dallas

Wow Wow Wow!

I mean, where has this been all my life? I LIVE for all things that are ABOVE and BEYOND what it should really be. If you know me, you know simplicity is not in my vocabulary.

Allow me to begin by saying, your child/children will LOVE this place! The interior designing has this cute home vibe and it’s super spacious so your kids will be running wild in there lol cause Noah sure was; especially with all the donuts he ate. Talking about donuts, OMG!!! TO DIE FOR! Well, at least he was acting like he was about to, if he didn’t get his hands on the worm donut (insert rolling eyes emoji here) lol.

Let me tell you, these donuts not only look amazing but taste amazing too. Wow! Donut & Drips is such a great place to not only eat there but also get donuts for any kind of event so your dessert table is totally Pinterest worthy lol. It really gives a whole other meaning to donuts, and I am not sarcastically speaking this time.

When it comes to the price of these donuts, it varies on how over the top the donut is. But you WILL want to buy majority of the top-notch donuts, so just go ahead and come after your payday lol. Oh’ and I can’t forget to mention the most important part of Wow! Donut & Drips is that they’re open 24-hours a day, 7-days a week! I mean… I totally get the name now, WOW indeed.

See for yourself!

Better than Chick-fil-A?

Yupp, you read that title completely right! Never did I ever think I’d say this but I think I just found a place that’s better than Chick-fil-A. And here I am spilling the beans for you.

First of all, let’s talk about how amazingly cool the design on Super Chix looks like.

Just look at these photos! And before you think or say anything just know that these photos are NOT edited whatsoever! These are raw images straight from the camera. If you’d like to go get a napkin real quick for your drool , i’ll wait….

Great! you’re back.

I LOVE all things avocado so, I ordered the Bacon, Egg and Cheese Avocado minus the bacon and OMG that was the best burger I’ve ever eaten. It’s my two favorite things combined into one and oh’ how mouth watering that was lol, and I’m not even exaggerating one bit.

Hubbs ordered the simple sandwich, which is identical to the Chick-fil-A spicy chicken sandwich.

And can we talk about the side options that Super Chix has and Chick-fil-A does not? Like the fries covered in cheese and the fried pickles (insert drooling emoji here).

They also had this cute play area in the back/outside. So, you can definitely enjoy your meal while your offspring is outside playing. And yes it is gated so you don’t have to worry about anything happening to them. Honestly, if you haven’t tried this place out you MUST!

Public School 972 Restaurant

Raise your hand if weekends are your favorite! Once Friday comes along I think everyone becomes 100% more happy lol But anyways, weekends are good for two things. The first one being to relax, because your work week was hella stressful and you just want to Netflix and chill ALL weekend. Or you can spend your weekend out and about seeing what shenanigans you can get yourself into.

Well last weekend hubbs and I went to a fairly new spot here in the Addison area. And I say “fairly new” because this spot has been open for two years but it doesn’t seem like many people know about it or it may just be me that doesn’t know about this place lol… anyway, I heard about this awesome restaurant/bar through the great ol’ world wide web. So, here I am ready to spill the beans for ya!

You know when you look back at your memories from elementary school and for some odd reason there are certain things you can’t forget? Sometimes it’s that memory of that boy in 3rd grade who pulled your hair because he liked you and sometimes it’s that memory of when you put a dollar in the vending machine and your hot cheetos got stuck. It’s weird the things we can’t forget lol But I KNOW everyone remembers those hair-netted lunch ladies who served up “prison food” lol such as rectangular sliced pizza with what seemed to be vegetables on the side. You can blame the lunch ladies for why kids are so terrified of veggies lol. Oh, how I don’t miss those times.

Thankfully, Public School 972, on the border of North Dallas and Addison, offers no such culinary horrors in their school house vibe restaurant, which is my favorite thing about this place. Flashcards hang from the ceiling in different parts of the restaurant, globes, books, pencil sharpeners and typewriters are all part of the playful decor. While a game area near the entrance holds a shuffleboard table, jumbo jenga blocks and a couple of dartboards.

Public School is said to be a chef-driven gastropub serving exclusive craft beer and delivers, “An Education in the Art of Food & Beer.” From the eclectic, seasonal menu we ordered the C.C.B. which was a chicken burger, smoky tomato jam, avocado, pickle, ranch, crispy bacon and topped with a fried egg. We also ordered the House Pepperoni pizza which had mozzarella, provolone, jalapeños, uncured pepperoni with chili flakes.

And let me not forget about the appetizers 🙂 yummm!

Hubbs and I ordered the bacon cheddar tots and the chorizo mac and cheese which in all honesty, I did not taste any chorizo but salami, it was delicious either way but oddly named.

The restaurant also has happy hour, aka “Recess”, all 7seven days of the week from 3-7 P.M., which means cheaper food and drinks. The bar features a vast selection of seasonal artisanal cocktails and sommelier selected wines.

Korean Ice Cream

These aren’t your average ice cream cones. Jipangi, a Korean J-shaped cone is made from a corn-based mixture which can be described as pretty plain, Bubble Jipangi’s version is similar to Cap’n Crunch. They comes in two colors (yellow or pink), two sizes (small or large), and is filled with vanilla or chocolate ice cream. You can also choose to get a combination of the two ice cream flavors and can add toppings like strawberries, macaroons and pocky sticks.

When I visited Bubble Jipangi, I chose the large yellow Jipangi with the combination of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, coffee and strawberry macaroons and finally topping it off with two chocolate pocky sticks. The jipangi cone in my opinion was not as soft as I would like it to be, but it’s too harsh were I am unable to munch on the cone either.

It was also fun to hold and look at with its unique shape.

If you like trying new things, this is deffinetly a place you’d want to check out!

Ice Cream + Churro

Scrolling through Instagram on an empty stomach can be risky business.
When hunger gets a hold of you and you’re welcomed by an innumerable drooling shots of what everyone is munching on, it’s just too tempting to drop everything and cram your face full of whatever the latest Insta-craze may be.

One particular item which is making waves on social media is the Ice Cream Churro.

Who would’ve known combining a churro with ice cream would be the best thing ever?

This Ice Cream Churro is what dreams are made of, no doubt about it!

Don’t Be Basic

Just a quick recap of Father’s Day since everyone was just so amazed by the custom donuts I gave to hubbs. The title of this post says it all, lets not be basic guys! Why get basic round donuts when you can get custom donuts of literally ANYTHING you want. This idea is great for Birthday parties, Boss day, A congratulations gift. I mean seriously anything you want. If you check out their social media page which I will provide below they can do it all. From making someone’s face into a donut to cartoons and logos, seriously the work they do is amazing and that is an understatement.

The donuts I choose to have made where 3 things that hubbs loves. The color orange, baseball and Pokemon. Also if you have no idea on what donut designs you want simply let them know and they will come up with something great for you. Oh’ and a little FYI I paid $33.00 for these donuts so that’s about 2.50 each and you do have to take into consideration that it’s custom made therefore, it will be a tad pricer than your average basic donut holes.
